Rubicon Associates joins Navantia Technical Partner Network
General
Rubicon Associates, a leading naval architecture and marine engineering company, has joined Navantia Australia’s Technical Partner Network (TPN). This network is a collaboration of Australian companies that support Navantia’s naval shipbuilding and sustainment projects.
Navantia Australia is continuing to build sovereign capability for Australian industry through the establishment of its TPN in support of the next phase of Plan Galileo implementation.
The TPN provides the Commonwealth with a coordinated engineering capacity, and ensures Australian SMEs can continue to build capability, knowledge, and expertise in ongoing defence programs. In October 2023 Navantia Australia’s inaugural Technology Network Partners met to participate in a workshop to discuss the framework of the Network and the sustainable opportunities for the companies to collaborate in delivering engineering design activities.
Navantia Australia is the prime contractor and design authority for six naval ships in the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) fleet, including the Canberra, Stalwart, and Hobart class ships. Rubicon Associates will provide its expertise and experience to help maintain and enhance these platforms.
The partnership was announced at the Indo Pacific Maritime Expo 2023 in Sydney, where Rubicon Associates participated as part of the Victorian Government stand. The expo is a major event for the maritime industry, with the support of the RAN and the Australian Government Department of Defence.
Rubicon Associates General Manager, Sam Tait, said: “We are honoured to be part of Navantia’s Technical Partner Network and look forward to working collaboratively to support the Navy’s platforms. Delivering capability and sharing success is paramount to Rubicon Associates.”
Navantia Engineering Director, Jamie Gibbs, welcomed Rubicon Associates to the network and said “Navantia Australia is excited to launch the TPN as a vehicle to promote the development of sovereign defence maritime engineering and design capability.
“The TPN is being established to provide the Royal Australian Navy with the engineering services capability and capacity that it needs now and into the future. The TPN will underpin growth and investment in sovereign capability and increase the capacity for engineering service provision whilst controlling Technical Integrity and Baseline Management of the vessels.”
Rubicon Associates is delighted to become a technical partner. We have a proven track record of delivering high-quality naval engineering solutions and services. We are confident of adding value to TPN projects and contributing to the future of the Australian naval industry.
