Australia’s ambitious 30-year shipbuilding program will foresee a further three decades of sustainment work requiring specialist vessel repair and maintenance expertise.

Rubicon Associates are playing our part in ensuring Navy is mission capable into the future with the projected increase in naval shipbuilding.

We support sustainment activity from design through to disposal within Horizon 3 of the Royal Australian Navy’s Plan Galileo; a plan designed to provide enhanced and evolved support to Navy, sustainment efficiency, and sovereign sustainment capability.

We offer services that support ship repair, refit, and refurbishment with a focus on vessel reliability and maintenance optimisation, improved efficiency and reduced operating costs.

We have extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of hull structures, and integrated platform systems, including hotel services, energy/power, mobility, safety, utilities, and HVAC – providing design and engineering support, as well as project management of repair and maintenance activities, and shipyard management.

Our services are provided across Australia, from offices in Melbourne, Perth, and Cairns, and with consultant representatives in Adelaide and Canberra. We have invested in robust Quality Assurance systems to guide and support consistent and high-quality service delivery, engineering outcomes, and Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) compliance.

Although our offices are dispersed, our staff work collaboratively on integrated projects across Australia’s major shipyards, including Garden Island (Sydney), Osborne (Adelaide), the Cairns Marine Precinct and Rockingham in Western Australia. We have supported numerous RAN vessel classes, including ANZAC Frigates, Collins Class submarines, Canberra-Class LHD, HMAS CHOULES, LCHs, Adelaide-Class Frigates, Oilers, Hydrographic Ships, Pacific Patrol Boats, Armidale Patrol Boats and Minehunters.

Regional development is a strong focus for Rubicon Associates, with our Cairns office established to support continuous sustainment activity at the Navy’s Regional Maintenance Centre, as part of the Cairns Marine Precinct.

Since opening our Cairns office in 2021, we have been engaged to provide consulting and engineering services for the Pacific Class patrol boats and Leeuwin Class Hydrographic Survey Ships, supporting vessel sustainment and upgrade.

Rubicon Associates growth is underpinned by the direction of the Commonwealth of Australia’s plan and our aim is to be alongside those that are providing the best outcomes for Naval personnel at sea.

As an Australian owned SME, our commitment is to sovereign capability. With this commitment comes longevity in being engaged to support the Naval Defence Industry sector for many years to come.
