LHD Systems Corrosion Survey
Navy Vessel Class: The Royal Australian Navy has acquired two Amphibious Assault Ships, the HMAS Canberra and the HMAS Adelaide. Otherwise known as a Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD), the vessels represent one of the most sophisticated air-sea-land deployment systems in the World.

Rubicon Associates was engaged to support the client’s Asset Integrity Management System, undertaking independent engineering assessment of seawater system components to ensure ongoing equipment performance and reliability.
Scope
The general scope of work involved:
- Performing a thorough physical survey of all the seawater system components on-board the two LHD’s.
- Reporting on findings and providing details of the nature and extent of any
- Advising the Commonwealth on appropriate remedial actions.
Project Outcome
The successful delivery of this project demonstrates Rubicon Associates’ ability to accurately assess a client’s asset, evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of its function and then ensure its fit for service condition is maintained.
