Low Voltage Upgrades
Navy Vessel Class: The Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN’s) Hydrographic Service has responsibility for charting more than one eighth of the world’s surface, stretching as far west as Cocos Island in the Indian Ocean, east to the Solomon Islands, and from the Equator to the Antarctic.
Services
Rubicon Associates completed a review and developed an upgrade proposal for the vessel’s low voltage power system as part of our contribution to the BAE Systems Tiger Team. The project included a weeklong ship check inspecting all of the ships’ switchboards and working in collaboration with the other TSN’s to develop a proposal that links into the high-power systems. In addition, a remediation action plan was developed from the ship inspection findings that had a specific focused on improving the quality of vessel systems and equipment, ensuring ongoing supportability and an assessment on the safety to the crew for continued operation.
Scope
- Engineering assessment and review of low voltage power system, in collaboration with other TSNs
- Proposal for upgrade, linking into high-power systems
- Remediation action plan
Project Outcome
Engineering change proposals are being reviewed in conjunction with integration with other platform systems to ensure capability, supportability and safety within the vessel.
